Roderick M Chisholm (born around Seekonk, Massachusetts in 1916; died in Providence in 1999) was an American philosopher, known for his work in epistemology, metaphysics, free will, and a philosophy of perception. He was the student of Clarence Irving Lewis at Harvard University and made the career as a prof at Brown University.

Chisholm's foremost major functiin was the school text on epistemology known as Theory of Noesis. His masterwork was Human & Object, a title of which punning rival philosopher W. V. O. Quine's Word and Object. Chisholm, the metaphysical Platonist & positivist in the tradition of G. E. Moore and Franz Brentano, objected to Quine's anti-realism, behaviorism, and relativism.
